Since joining the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre in 2010, Dr. Rose Buitenhuis has led the development of integrated pest management technologies that support sustainable crop protection in both ornamental and production horticulture. Her work focuses on creating practical, reliable biological control solutions that growers can implement across a wide range of greenhouse crops.

Dr. Buitenhuis received her MSc in Biology from Leiden University in the Netherlands and her PhD in Entomology from Laval University in Canada. She continued her research as a postdoctoral fellow at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Harrow and at the University of Guelph, working on biological control and pest management in horticultural crops.

Her presentation will examine current advances and future opportunities for biological control in floriculture crops, highlighting strategies that improve reliability, sustainability, and long-term pest management performance in modern greenhouse environments.
